While the mainstream media focuses on American and Afghan loyalists, a group being woefully ignored, and perhaps in much greater danger are Christians hiding underground from Taliban thugs.
Ryan Foley, a journalist for the Christian Post (one of the few news outlets actually reporting on the plight of the minority Christian population) has reported in an exclusive exposé. Militant Taliban insurgents are “going door-to-door searching for Christians, and inspecting phones for Bible apps.”
Foley goes on to report on a statement released on Tuesday by the founder of the nonprofit organization identified as the Global Catalytic Ministries, and how the Taliban has made seeking out Christians a priority, virtually going into known areas where Christians reside, and executing those who openly resist them, on the spot.
“Pastor X” (an alias used to protect his identity), founded the underground Christian church ministering to the minority Afghanistan Christian community provided a “first-hand ground report” on the perilous situation currently facing Christians, and the likelihood that Afghan Christian’s in particular would face severe retribution would be almost a certainty.
The pastor’s urgent statement was relayed to Frontier Alliance International, an advocacy group dedicated to advancing the Gospel in remote areas around the world.
“The Taliban has a hit list of known Christians they are targeting to pursue and kill. The U.S. Embassy is defunct and there is no longer a safe place for believers to take refuge,” the statement reads
Adding, “All borders to neighboring countries are closed and all flights to and from have been halted, with the exception of private planes. People are fleeing into the mountains looking for asylum. They are fully reliant on God, who is the only One who can and will protect them.”
The statement also instructed Christians, how to survive the Taliban, “The people must mark their house with an ‘X’ if they have a girl over 12 years old, so that the Taliban can take them. If they find a young girl and the house was not marked, they will execute the entire family,” the statement added. “If a married woman 25 years old or older has been found, the Taliban promptly kill her husband, do whatever they want to her, and then sell her as a sex slave.”
Additionally, Pastor X stated that “Husbands and fathers have given their wives and daughters guns and told them that when the Taliban come, they can choose to kill them or kill themselves, it is their choice.”
Faced with the dreaded certainty that he would most likely be imprisoned or even executed, Pastor X lamented, “20 years of work and the strengthening of a nation are being destroyed in a single day.”
However, World Evangelical Alliance Secretary General Bishop Thomas Schirrmacher was perhaps more realistic in his assessment of the unfolding crisis stressing, “we should not pretend as if everything was well in Afghanistan before the Taliban taking control of the country.”
Adding, “The constitution of 2004 stated that Afghanistan is an Islamic republic with Islam as its state religion.”
As the Taliban goes door-to-door seeking out Christians, the Global Catalytic Ministries is attempting to spearhead a fund drive, hoping to amass an emergency “war chest” of $500,000, for approximately 1,500 Christian families between now and September 11th marking the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attack on America.
The funds will hopefully pay for passage out of Afghanistan anyway possible, as well as providing food, water, and undisclosed underground shelter and other basic needs.
Christians are once again experiencing the barbaric rule of Islamic fundamentalists, a throwback to the “Dark Ages” many centuries ago, until the Holy Wars vanquished the barbarians back into their caves.
