Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party presidential nominee, is likely reeling from the “October surprise” that is now plaguing her political campaign as news continues to come to light that proves her husband, Doug Emhoff, was involved in “inappropriate” and “misogynistic” behavior at his job. Man, Harris truly is a horrific judge of character. And that’s one reason why this story about Emhoff matters. If she chose a man who is treating other people so badly to be her husband, then she cannot be trusted to pick folks to populate her cabinet and other critical positions within the government. Imagine the disaster that could unfold as she picks judges for various federal courts? Total nightmare fuel.
Lawyers who used to work with Emhoff at his previous firm, Venable, have come forward and revealed that he used to scream foul language, held a number of men-only cocktail hours in the office, rejected work perks from women who didn’t get flirty with him and also took only the young, pretty associates with him in a limo to a ball. Sounds like this guy is trying to live out some kind of fratboy fantasy. Kind of cheesy, right?

A 2019 lawsuit also claimed sex discrimination by other partners in the LA office Emhoff ran, and that while engaged to Harris, he hired an ‘unqualified’ part-time model as a legal secretary ‘because she was young, attractive and friendly with the powerful men in the office’. The claims are the latest in a string of allegations revealed by DailyMail.com that threaten to shatter Emhoff’s image, heavily promoted by the Harris presidential campaign, of a feminist ally and ‘wife guy’. The claims are the latest in a string of allegations revealed by DailyMail.com that threaten to shatter Emhoff’s image, heavily promoted by the Harris presidential campaign, of a feminist ally and ‘wife guy’.
Four days after DailyMail.com contacted Emhoff for comment, a spokesperson reportedly denied the allegations as ‘untrue’ in a statement to politics website Semafor. Before becoming the country’s first Second Gentleman, Emhoff was managing director at Venable in their 23rd story office in Los Angeles. One senior former staffer claimed Emhoff ‘bragged’ about yelling ‘get the f*** out of my office’ to a female partner at the firm, later telling his top male colleagues that he had ‘put her in her place’.
‘She had to ask him something,’ the ex-staffer went onto say. ‘His office door was closed. She said to his secretary, ‘is he on the phone?’ She said no. She tapped on the door, he didn’t answer, so she slightly opened the door and stuck her head in. ‘He said “get the f*** out of my office.” ‘What’s worse was he bragged about it to the management at Venable and they were aghast. He’s an a**hole. He told them how he “put her in her place”. A misogynist, that’s who does that.’
The U.K. publication noted that it was the first to reveal that Emhoff has been accused of physically abusing a former girlfriend for supposedly getting a bit flirty with another guy during an altercation that was strongly fueled by the second gentlemen pounding down too much alcohol. The incident is said to have taken place in 2012.
Emhoff recently sat down for a fawning interview with Jen Psaki during which the former White House Press Secretary told the Second Gentleman that he had ‘reshaped the perception of masculinity’ The shocking allegations are a striking contrast to Emhoff’s benevolent image promoted by the Harris campaign and his media interviews portraying himself as an ally to women
A former female staffer stated that it was a well established fact that Emhoff was extremely flirty and that “if you weren’t flirty back or didn’t respond positively then you were on his s**t list.” A former attorney who worked at Venable also leveled accusations of “favoritism” at him, stating the consequences for not returning his flirtatious advances resulted in you not getting to work on the cases you were interested in working on.
Harris responded to the accusations against her husband during an interview on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast.
‘Part of the issue is that people don’t talk about it,’ she stated. ‘And I don’t mean the survivors, I mean nobody does, and the more that we let anything exist in the shadows, the more likely it is that people are suffering and suffering silently, and we need to talk about it.”
A woman who worked under Emhoff as a junior attorney at Venable told DailyMail.com that he favored ‘young, pretty girls’ at the firm. ‘If there was an event, like the Justice Ball, he would favor certain people. Usually it was young, pretty girls. And he would prefer for them to ride with him. He would get a limo,’ she said. ‘I just don’t think his behavior was appropriate for the position he was in.’
Again, Harris is a very poor judge of character if even a little bit of this is true. Do we really want someone like that choosing important people for important decisions? I don’t think so.
