According to brand new reports from The Daily Wire and The Wall Street Journal, President-elect Donald Trump is allegedly mulling over replacing his initial pick for Secretary of the Department of Defense, Pete Hegseth, with Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis. The reason for the switch would be due to concern over getting Hegseth through the confirmation process due to recent sexual misconduct allegations that have been leveled against him and having a lack of experience.
CBS News also confirmed that several sources close to the Trump transition team and stated that DeSantis was being considered for the switch. This is a great choice, though one has to wonder about the ramifications for the state of Florida if DeSantis accepts the nomination and is voted into the position. Florida has been a red state over the last four years due to the stellar leadership of DeSantis and those that have been part of his cabinet. If he’s removed from that spot right now, at this pivotal moment, things might take a turn toward the blue and we cannot afford that. It’s a conundrum for sure.

A few other names in consideration for the spot at the top of the DoD are Sens. Joni Ernst, an Iowa Republican and Bill Hagerty, a Republican from Tennessee, according to information shared by CNN.
Trump and DeSantis attended a Memorial Service together on Tuesday for Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office Motor Deputies who died in the line of duty.

Reporter Marc Caputo said that Trump and DeSantis first discussed the Florida governor becoming the Secretary of Defense in June. Trump and DeSantis, the two most popular politicians in the Republican Party, battled it out during the Republican Party primary with Trump easily coming out on top and DeSantis dropping out after the first contest in Iowa. Trump went on to steamroll the others who remained in the race. When he dropped out, DeSantis gave an enthusiastic endorsement of Trump and the Trump campaign responded by saying that they were “honored” to receive DeSantis’ endorsement.

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, a member of the GOP, stated on Tuesday that he believes it will be “difficult” for Hegseth to get through the confirmation process, referring to some of the allegations being leveled at him as “disturbing,” according to Newsweek. He spoke with CBS News saying, “I think some of these articles are very disturbing. He obviously has a chance to defend himself here, but some of this stuff is it’s going to be difficult…”
Hegseth was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in 2017. He has not been charged over the matter. The accuser filed a police report, which was obtained by the media outlet Mediaite last month, detailing the allegation. She alleged that Hegseth sexually assaulted her after he prevented her from leaving a hotel room following the California Federation of Republican Women convention in October 2017.
When news of the police report broke, Graham told NBC News the Senate would not “try” Hegseth based on “press statements. When Graham, a staunch Trump ally, was told that the allegations were outlined in a police report, he responded, “I don’t care.” Hegseth came under additional scrutiny this week, when the New Yorker reported that he was intoxicated several times while he was the CEO of the Koch-backed group Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) between 2013 and 2016.
The former Fox News host was so intoxicated that he needed “to be carried out of the organization’s events,” the report said. Hegseth responded to the allegations on Monday, telling reporters: “Not gonna dignify that with a response.” Newsweek reached out to Hegseth’s attorney and the Trump transition team for comment on Tuesday.
Keep in mind that the radical left is on a mission to destroy each and every choice the president-elect makes for his cabinet, so take these allegations with a grain of salt.
