Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris is finding herself at the center of another controversy as it’s been revealed her campaign has been buying up search ads on tech giant Google’s search engine and using them to deceptively edit headlines that have been coming out from mainstream media outlets. Remember, these same outlets, both in the realm of television news and publishing, all claim they are being super objective and do not lean one way or the other politically speaking.
Obviously, the folks who read this publication are smart and well educated, thus they know that is absolutely not the truth. Legacy outlets have become nothing more than propaganda makers pushing false narratives that boost the progressive agenda. Knowing that, it seems par for the course that Harris would be engaging in this deceitful practice.
An article from Axios explained that one of these ads from the Harris campaign might contain a story published by an outlet like CNN or MSNBC. But then they will come up with a fake headline that is created to help make Harris look good. Many of you are probably wondering why go through this process at all? Most of these publications are already falling all over themselves to paint Harris in a positive light. Isn’t this just a waste of money?
Google has responded to this kind of activity stating that each of these search ads is slapped with a “sponsored” designation, so readers should know it’s coming from the Harris campaign and not from the original publication. Let’s be honest. Most people don’t pay that close attention to the fine print. If they did, there wouldn’t be any fraud cases tried in court.
However, a lot of readers have noted the designation and not read the content or bought into the fake headlines. But there are two that have raised the alarm among conservatives, leading to Americans wondering if his is a practice that should be banned.
First, the search ads feature links to actual articles by those establishment propaganda outlets. The Harris campaign simply changed the headlines and supporting text. That might not offend the average voter as much as say, stolen valor. But it does seem awfully close to what old-fashioned people might call “lying.” Second, the entire dishonest spectacle has called forth the usual objectivity theater from both Big Tech and the establishment media.
For instance, according to Axios, “Google believes its sponsored disclosures are enough to keep voters from being misled.” Sponsored disclosures or otherwise, one chuckles at the notion that Google executives care about misleading voters. After all, among their many sins, those same people have recently admitted that search results pertaining to former President Donald Trump were “accidentally” suppressed.
Axios then went on to point out in their article that the media is already fighting against “assertions of bias.” Of course they are. Because there’s no “assertion” about it. Most of these news organizations take a very obvious left-wing slant. And most in the viewing audience knows it. But that doesn’t stop The Guardian from still claiming they are an objective source of reporting, only giving you the facts and doing legitimate journalism.
“While we understand why an organization might wish to align itself with the Guardian’s trusted brand, we need to ensure it is being used appropriately and with our permission. We’ll be reaching out to Google for more information about this practice,” a Guardian spokesperson said in defense of the publication, according to Axios.
The bottom line is this is lying. And while liberals lie every time their lips move, we need to combat these lies with truth and shut down their ability to mislead people who are under the impression they are getting legitimate news from reputable sources.
