Former President Donald Trump is an expert-level troll when it comes to the radical left, but what could be about to happen involving the creation of a $500 bill could take it all to a level previously unlocked. We’re talking about god-tier level trolling here. Just picture this for a moment. The creation of a $500 bill with Trump’s cocky smirk plastered on it.
Leftists would lose their minds. It would be one of the most brilliant and awesome temper tantrums in the history of progressivism. They would be taking to the streets to cry, whine, hold candle light vigils, probably doing some adult coloring book sessions. You know, the usual.
According to SCNR’s latest report, Congressman Paul Gosar, a Republican from the state of Arizona, wants to make this a reality. God bless this man. Gosar stated that “as Bidenflation continues to devalue our currency” there are several “practical advantages” to issuing such a currency.
“First, the larger-value currency will empower Americans with the freedom of more tangible options to save and exchange goods and services,” the congressman explained in a statement. “Additionally, the absence of large-denomination currency issued by the Treasury encourages Americans to rely on digital banking, which faces greater vulnerability to surveillance and censorship.”
The Republican also suggested that “these $500 Trump bills will become highly sought after, generating revenue for the government through increased demand for numismatic items.”
“Collectors often covet currency with unique designs and historical significance and bills featuring the very popular 45th President will attract considerable attention from collectors,” he continued. “This will no doubt create a market for the $500 Trump bills far beyond their face value and increase the seigniorage earnings of the government, thus increasing overall revenues.”
The new bill being proposed by Gosar is called the “Treasury Reserve Unveiling Memorable Portrait Act of 2024.” That means it’s officially the “TRUMP Act of 2024.” Awesome. Just pure awesome.
The highest denomination of currencyever issued by the Federal Reserve for public circulation was the $10,000. The note featured a portrait of Salmon P. Chase, Secretary of the Treasury under President Abraham Lincoln.
“Although a $100,000 bill featuring the portrait of Woodrow Wilson was issued, its purpose was to transfer funds between Federal Reserve Banks, and not to pass in retail transactions,” the Museum of America Finance pointed out.
Notes of $500, $1,000, $5,000, and $10,000 were discontinued by the Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department on July 14, 1969. Currently, the Federal Reserve issues $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 notes.
In the America of today, there’s been quite a bit of controversy swirling around the portraits found on our currency due to differences in political ideology. In other words, liberals want to erase people off the various bills in our currency due to them owning slaves way back in the day and other such things, apparently not understanding the context these folks lived in.
Back in 2016, former President Barack Obama wanted to see the country’s seventh president, Andrew Jackson, yanked off the $20 and replaced with Harriet Tubman. She was pretty awesome, so I for one wouldn’t mind the change. The many critics of Jackson made the case that his push to remove American Indians makes him an “ethnic cleanser.” The Treasury Department said that by the year 2030 they would place Tubman on the front and put Jackson on the back. That’s a good compromise.
Trump’s administration paused the installation of Tubman on the $20 bill. President Joe Biden’s administration announced shortly after taking office that they would move forward with plans to redesign the currency.
As of this writing, Trump has not commented on Gosar’s bill.
