On Wednesday, President-elect Donald Trump revealed that he has picked former acting U.S. Attorney General Matthew Whitaker to be the next U.S. Ambassador to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, or NATO. Trump has a notorious reputation with the other nations who are part of NATO as he actually expects them to uphold their end of the contract they signed to be part of the organization, which includes paying their dues. For a long time now, NATO countries in Europe have mooched off the U.S. while also expecting us to come to their aid. That ends as soon as the president-elect is sworn into office.
“Matt is a strong warrior and loyal Patriot, who will ensure the United States’ interests are advanced and defended,” Trump revealed in a statement. “Matt will strengthen relationships with our NATO Allies, and stand firm in the face of threats to Peace and Stability – He will put AMERICA FIRST.”
Lots of people are going to be triggered by the notion of putting the American people and their best interest ahead of the rest of the world, but that’s exactly what we all want and voted for. You can’t help others if you don’t have the means to even provide for your own people. That’s immoral. And it’s one of the big reasons that leftists lost this election cycle. Americans want to know their government and its leadership legitimately cares for them.
And that doesn’t mean growing the size of said government. It means quite the opposite. Make it smaller and get it the heck out of our lives. Reduce taxes. Stop indoctrinating children to think it’s okay to mutilate their genitals.

Trump said that he had full confidence in Whitaker’s ability to represent the U.S. and promote “peace through strength” and freedom around the world. Whitaker, a former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa, graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.A., MBA, and J.D. Whitaker received a Big Ten award while playing college football as a tight end for the Iowa Hawkeyes from 1988-1992.

Whitaker has strong foreign policy views when it comes to Russia, having warned of its attempts to interfere in U.S. elections and that it would continue its war of aggression in Europe unless NATO stands together. In a 2022 interview with Fox News, Whitaker said that heavy weaponry needed to be sent to Ukraine immediately to assist the country in its fight against invading Russian forces.

The president-elect has stated time and again that his biggest regret with his first administration was picking people who weren’t loyal to him and didn’t deeply believe in his agenda for the country. He insists that will not be the case this time around. And I believe him. Which means that he’s carefully vetted Whitaker and knows he will help him in dealings with NATO and that’s a comforting thought.
Especially with President Joe Biden attempting to start world war three before the holiday season with his latest debacle with Ukraine-Russia.
