As the war in Israel rages and it seems like distractions abound for the Biden Administration, it’s focusing on what is important: trying to meet with all the various groups on the oppression spectrum to cobble together a 2024 coalition that can take on former President Donald Trump in 2024.
Such is what he was up to on Tuesday, meeting with “70 Latino LGBTQI+ leaders” to talk about AIDs and how the administration is dealing with that. Somehow, gun control also came up, which is awkward given Hunter Biden’s gun charges.
Regardless, that’s what Biden rambled about, before again attempting to use the death of his son Beau to garner sympathy from the audience (Beau died of cancer, yet Biden routinely uses his death and fake details about it in an attempt to appear relatable).
In its report on the meeting, Team Biden said:
On Tuesday, the White House Office of Public Engagement convened over 70 Latino LGBTQI+ leaders, in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and National Coming Out Day, to discuss priority issues and the Biden-Harris Administration’s ongoing efforts to advance equity for LGBTQI+ and Latino communities.
Administration officials and community leaders discussed recent actions President Biden has taken on issues including civil rights, community safety, health, and education including recent Department of Justice actions to combat hate-related violence, efforts to improve health care outcomes for Latinos living with HIV/AIDS and the newly formed Office of Gun Violence Prevention to enhance the President’s longstanding efforts to eradicate gun violence and community-based crimes.
Community leaders shared personal anecdotes that underscored the importance of creating community-centered spaces focused on solution development and agreed to continue working with the Biden-Harris Administration to support the Latino LGBTQI+ community.
What that left out is that the meeting adjourned because Biden decided to bring up Beau while AIDS was being discussed, saying, “Look here, folks, I know about AIDS. Hunter and I feel your pain. Not because we have it…we both are, well, never mind. Anyway, it’s because Beau died of AIDS when he was a young man, full of promise. Yup, that happened and I remember it. We are very sad, and we remember his death. So that’s why we’re going to fight AIDS. For Beau.”
That led to outrage and consternation from the various “leaders” gathered there, most of whom knew someone who actually died of AIDS and so were upset that Biden appeared to be making light of the disease by lying about the death of his son in an attempt to appear relatable. So, the room devolved into yelling and chaos and Biden just left, with Dr. Jill and KJP trying to make the most of the situation and get the meeting back on track.
It did not get back on track, so they had to adjourn and make up a cheery message about it later.
