NOTE: the following article is satire, not a statement of fact. Treat it as such.
Lindsey Graham appeared on ABC to attack MTG and other conservatives for supporting the Pentagon leaker who exposed the terrifying depth of US involvement in the Russo-Ukraine War, saying:
“Those who are trying to sugarcoat this on the Right… you cannot allow a single individual of the military intelligence community to leak classified information because they disagree with policy. I don’t know what led to this airman’s actions, but he’s done a lot of damage to our standing.
“What they’re suggesting will destroy America’s ability to defend itself. That it’s okay to release classified information based on your political views. That the ends justify the means. It is not okay. If you’re a member of the military intelligence community and you disagree with American policy and you think you’re going to be okay when it comes to leaking classified information, You’re going to go to jail. It’s one of the most irresponsible statements you can make.”
Graham then added, “There is no justification for this! And for any member of Congress to suggest it’s OK to leak classified information because you agree with the cause is terribly irresponsible! And puts America in serious danger.”
ABC’s Jon Karl was somewhat taken aback by Graham’s defense of the Deep State and military-industrial complex. Responding, he said, “Really, Senator? You’re taking the side of the government on this issue? On the side of the CIA and such?”
Graham didn’t miss a beat. “Yes I am,” he said. “And let me just say it now so that there’s no confusion: it’s your duty as an American to support the Deep State! Whatever you think about this or that individual issue, you need to think about what they need and put America’s dignity and credibility first, which means siding with the CIA, NSA, Pentagon…they’re the good guys and real patriots realize that.”
Needless to say, Graham’s comments didn’t go over well on the MAGA right. Rep. MTG, whose tweet on the issue is what sparked Graham’s attack in the ABC interview, said:
“Now I wonder what the CIA has on Lindsey that made him so fawning for them in the woke ABC interview. Rumors about him being gay have swirled for years, who thinks that the intelligence agencies have a video, pictures, or the like of Graham doing things that would upset the ruby red South Carolina base?”
Graham went into hiding and stayed off the airwaves after those remarks, though a statement released by his office said that “while the senator is straight as an arrow,” they wanted to “condemn Rep. Greene in the strongest terms for her homophobic attacks on the Senator, which are unacceptable given all that LGBTQ+ individuals have done to help fight the Russians in Ukraine.”
