As a reminder, the 1st Amendment to the United States Constitution says “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” Given that, particularly the “abridging the freedom of speech” part, it stands to reason that government officials shouldn’t be able to pressure companies into cracking down on unpopular opinions. Brandon, when giving a speech about gun control, went on a completely incorrect rant about the 2nd Amendment, saying “This doesn’t doesn’t violate anybody’s Second Amendment right…You couldn’t buy a cannon when this amendment was passed. There’s no reason why you should be able to buy certain assault weapons.” Watch him here: https://twitter.com/townhallcom/status/1489309047761391619?s=11 Note: It should be “should” in the transcript in the tweet, not “shouldn’t”. What’s the solution to violent crime? How can we stop those that brutalize their fellow citizens, including law enforcement officers, from doing so? The reasonable person would respond by saying that the criminals are to blame for their actions and should, as a result, be taken off of the streets. If you’ve ever purchased a firearm from a gun store, you’ll know that filling out a form (ATF Form 4473) which is then sent off for an “instant background check” is required. Now, the ATF is required by law to destroy its copy of the form after checking to make sure you’re not a felon. That was part of the deal when the background system was created. Turns out, and this should be no surprise, the agency that NFA President Wayne LaPierre called a bunch of “jackbooted thugs,” isn’t keeping its word. In fact, it has a secret database of…

A major issue in American politics is the concept of liberty. We bicker over which party- Democrat, Republican, or Libertarian- is truly the party that supports liberty, whether certain policies would enhance or detract from individual liberty, and why America has gradually become a less free country. All of those arguments are good ones to have and are about important topics, but they often lack the proper grounding, which is a correct answer to the “what is liberty?” question. That question, “what is liberty?” needs to be answered and understood by society before our other arguments can proceed. In fact, I…
